  • To configure your modem as a Transparent Bridge for use with your router follow the steps below:

Connect your computer directly to the Actiontec DSL Gateway using an ethernet cable. It is best to use ethernet port #1 on the back of the Actiontec DSL Gateway for this purpose.

Open a web browser and type into the address bar. Press the enter key.

Click Manual Setup if you are taken to the "What would you like to do?" menu.

Once you're taken to either the Status or Quick Setup page, click the Advanced Setup icon at the top of the page.

Click "WAN IP Address" or, if you have a GT784WN, click "WAN IP Settings" on the left-hand side of the page. If you are then shown a warning, click "Yes."

Under #1 (or #2 if you have a GT784WN), select the 3rd option down: "RFC 1484 Transparent Bridging" Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the "Apply" button.

Please note that when your modem is configured as a Transparent Bridge, the Internet light on the front of the modem will not be lit, even when you have an internet connection.

Disconnect the ethernet cable used in step one from the computer and connect it to the "WAN," "Internet," or "Modem" port on the back of your router.

Log into your router's user interface and configure its internet connection settings with the information provided to you by your Internet Service Provider for your account.
