- From a computer connected by ethernet, open browser\type in the Address Bar 192.168.0.1 and hit enter.
- Click on Wireless Setup
- To your left, click on the "Multiple SSID" link.
- Click the drop down in step ONE and select a name from the list separate from the main network name, (this should be in the box)
- Enable the SSID Broadcast
- Set to Broadcast the SSID
- Either use the default SSID Name or create your own in all capital letters.
- Set the Separate Subnet to Enable.
- Enter the following
- DHCP Start Address: 10.10.50.2
DHCP End Address: 10.10.50.254
SSID Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway Address: 10.10.50.1 - Click APPLY
Your Guest connections are now in a totally different IP subnet and should not be able to even see your main network computers.
NOTES:
- You will need to change the numbers in step 10 for each additional network you create.
- The devices connected to the different wireless network names will not be able to connect to each other. Example: being computers on your "Guest" network will not be able to use a printer on your "HOME" network.
Comments
I was excited to see this feature, as I don't want guests (with who-knows-what on their devices) to be able to access my network devices when using my WiFi internet connection; however, this does not work as expected. It seems the router is routing between the two subnets. I can access my main network devices on 192.168.1.x (SNM 255.255.255.0) from a secondary SSID with separate subnet on 10.10.10.x (SNM 255.255.255.0); see below:

Is there a setting/way to prevent the router from routing traffic between the multiple SSID subnets?
Thank you.

Paul,
We will need to try to duplicate the issue.
What firmware is on your unit currently?
Firmware Version: GT784WN-VZ-1.1.22
I have a similar question but I don't want to hide the new network; I want the option to switch back and forth so I can use one for my mobile hotspot. How can I do this?
That option would need to be configured on the hotspot. The modem just provides the wireless network(s) which will be available to devices for connection. If you want specific devices to connect to a specific SSID network then you need to configure that device to the desired SSID(s) at the time of connection.
I did not see an option to give the guest network a password. Is there a way to do that or is this just going to be the same as the main network (which defeats the purpose I think!). Also one doesn't want an unlocked wifi.....
Heather,
To set Wireless security for additional SSID's
Click on "Wireless Security"
Select the SSID from the drop down
Select the Security Type desired (WPA-WPA2 - Personal recommended)
Select "Use Custom Security Key/Passphrase"
Enter the desired Key
Click Apply.
I am fighting trying to get a raspberry pi to sign onto this GT784WN... I would like to add a SECOND SSID/password for a test, on same subnet, without upsetting my 15 other computers using this DSL modem... So how? Would I just change my present SSID (orange) to your pulldown FVGSS1, rename it back to orange and my present pw will remain in effect? THEN add second one using FVGSS2, do not set submask - leave it grayed out, and goto security tab and enter a simple pw like TEST?
